Physical Activity and Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease
Main Article Content
Abstract
Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) represent one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in the world and according to the World Health Organization (WHO), coronary heart disease (CHD) remains the leading cause of death worldwide. Current management strategies for CHD primarily rely on pharmacological therapies. However, several evidence indicates that non-pharmacological interventions, particularly dietary, lifestyle modifications and physical activity (PA) programs, represent essential components for CHD management due to their cost effectiveness and favourable safety profiles. The purpose of this brief review is to analyze the beneficial relationship between physical activity and CVD.
